BaRaKaH is not just an Arabic and Quran class for children – it provides them with a sense of identity and belonging. Children are eager to learn and progress and see attending BaRaKaH as being much fun and an important part of their life. As children progress through the different schemes of reading and memorisation, teachers see their confidence and enthusiasm heighten. It is wonderful to see children as young as three so eager to learn and so motivated. They have a love and joy for learning and teachers have a relaxed and balanced approach- as one of my pupils once said “Hany you can’t be strict!” Perhaps not but what we want as teachers is for the children to be eagerly waiting to arrive at Barakah each week and be excited to progress and learn the Quran..
The teachers at Barakah have the joy of teaching these Seeds, Leaves and Branches and watching them grow. But perhaps what is key to BaRaKaH are the parents who show commitment to ensuring their children learn to read and memorise the Quran by bringing them twice weekly to classes.
I believe BaRaKaH has been successful thanks to the blessings of Allah and commitment of all those involved. What was initially two parents looking for an avenue for their children to learn Quran is now a Kids club with over 100 children registered and an ever growing waiting list. From themed princess and superhero parties to bowling the children have very special rewards and celebrations to mark their achievements. This I believe makes BaRaKaH unique and appeal to the 21st century children.
I would like to thank everyone who has supported BaRaKaH and enabled the teaching of the Quran to the children of Swansea community.
I pray that the seeds become leaves and that the leaves become branches who reach out and pass on their beautiful recitation and love of the Quran to future generations.
